Can death be fought?

death, life after death, life is short, life is too short, dead, afterlife, death, life, deathI used to have a guitar teacher two years back. He discontinued teaching me as he had to move to London. He is doing a PHD on Robotics out there.Yesterday, he told me how he got interested into Robotics. I was quite taken aback to know what made him delve into Robotics. It was death!!!

As a child, when his grandparents or someone in the family died, he hated the feeling. (Most of us do hate it when death claims our loved ones). He wanted to have human beings forever beside him. And that gave his young mind an idea- he wondered can't there be an artificial heart, an artificial mind in the human body that would make them live longer or forever? Human body is perishable, but machines in their body would last longer, much longer. This thought led onto the interest in Robots - a body made of all artificial components. That was the connection between Robotics and death in his life.

That was an innocent child’s mind trying to find ways to fight death- but is fighting death possible? No. Death cannot be fought with even the most powerful Technology. But,the good news is that death is not the end. Loved ones whom we lose are somewhere experiencing life after death. What? Where? and how are they? Thats the mystery.

well, regarding your section on can death be fought? I must admit its quite interesting and well presented.I am expressing my viewson the topic-
I think what kills us more is the fear of death, the inevitable .
And ones who have seen that closely, would agree, its more devastating than the actual death. For example, take for instance some patient with a deadly disease who knows he is going to die.
This fear can be fought. Lance Armstrong fought a deadly cancer to put up a world record of 7 times tour de France champion. Now that is a FIGHT, a fight the whole world would remember as a fight against death . Yes death will eventually beat him physically, but mentally the champion has already beaten death.
SO can death be fought?
physically-No
mentally-OFF COURSE

@ dhruba, You are right. We all lose when we fight death, but fear can be fought. It's how well you control your mind.

Hi!!! was immensely impressed by your take on Death .. However, could not endorse your guitar teachers view that its Death " that had pushed him to learn robotics. Robotics is just a technology to make life of a living person easier ..... and cannot , even in ones' wildest dreams, be the tool to fight "death" .The best way , I feel , should be not to think about death at all... think about life....its beauties .. and its utilities....death would come when it is scheduled...not earlier ..not later....it is inevitable..and hene NOT in our control....so we should stop thinking about it and start thinking about how to make our life a meaningful one....so that we are remembered even after our respective deaths....

@arijit: Hey, very well said. I think exactly the same way. I,anyway ,believe death is not the end, so no point fighting it. What can be done is cherishing every moment of this life and taking the best from every situation here.So live on.

First of all i would like to give a pat for your effort to write on "death". Good write up.

But "death" the word is often said but i wonder how often its indeed realized. This is true that the only certain thing in the world is "DEATH". And u can't avoid it.

But here the question is can death be fought?
here comes the rain.we all, i mean the common fellow would think of life, death and blah blah blah. But what is it actually we fail to understand. We the people or more specifically the "beings" are the part of this universe. and in this universe only all these birth, death, re-birth exist!!! Ain't it?
Now those who have achived the level of nirvana, the true Sages, they never fear, never think of all these aforesaid state of life i.e the life, birth, death and so on. i mean they dont care for them anymore. ITS ALL THE SAME.
The circle of life is beyond the death. it's not incarserated b/w birth nd death. it goes way back of so called "birth nd moves way further the "Death"...its ETARNAL.

On an open mind we see the circle of life. But its not the end or a begging of something afresh. Its a etarnal, never ending process in which many come nd depart. But the SOUL remains the SAME.

The King may Die but Long live the King..Same thing can be applied here.Apparently u see people dying, but it's indeed just a phase of life...Life continues..

SO on n on n on...
